Kluane

Long day of driving today as we headed west on the Alaska Highway to Haines Junction -- the gateway to the Kluane.  The road is almost entirely paved with a few gravel spots.  The scenery is spectacular and reminded me of Alberta as you approach the Rockies.  Here are some pictures:
Past Haines Junction, we continued on along the spectacular Kluane Lake. Our farthest point was Destruction Bay where we had a picnic lunch  and I think is the farthest west in Canada that either of us has ever been.  We watched some people load up their boat with enough suitcases, petrol and supplies that made us think they were going to a remote cottage for at least a week.

After sitting in a car for so long, we stopped for a little  hike and got caught in the rain.

Before signing off for today, here are a couple of pictures of where we ate last night in Whitehorse and proof that Richard does indeed go into the water (Takhini Hotsprings) provided it is 35 degrees.
